Business Process Management: VCOR and
ValueScape

Value chain reference models are now
the leading edge for globally competitive companies who want to optimize
processes across all business domains. At this workshop you will learn
the fundamentals of value chain analysis and how to apply VCOR to a
variety of new product development and business problems. Also you will
develop an action plan based on ValueScape, the analytical tool
developed to implement the VCOR model at your company.
The
Value Chain Associates, LLC (VCA) is hosting a day and a half workshop
beginning on the afternoon of Monday November 6 and ending on the
afternoon of Tuesday November 7, 2006. This workshop features the
Value Chain Operations Reference (VCOR)
model and the value chain analysis application ValueScape. You and your
colleagues are encouraged to
register now as space is limited. The workshop will be held in
San Jose, CA at the Fairmont San Jose.
Target Audience/Who Should Attend:
All attendees who are either
Practitioner, Academic, Consortia or Consultant*
members of the Value
Chain Group will be provided with up to 180 days access to the
ValueScape server application. This will enable you and your team to
develop VCOR scenarios, create value streams and to develop ‘as-is’ and
‘to-be’ configurations.
*For training and familiarization
purposes only: ValueScape cannot be used for revenue generating
activities without separate license agreement with VCA, LLC. VCOR cannot
be used without VCG membership and/or separate license agreement with
the VCG.

Agenda
Introduction to Value Chain Thinking - The concept of value chain
thinking will be introduced including the motivation for expanding
supply chain and product development management to an enterprise model.
The key business drivers and motivation for leading companies using
value chain analysis will be discussed.
Introduction to VCOR - In this section we introduce the Value
Chain Operations Reference (VCOR) model. We present the expected
benefits from a de facto standard value chain reference model, the scope
of processes covered by VCOR and its architecture. We will review the
VCOR schema and the VCOR database tool that facilitates its development
and management.
Application of VCOR - Case Studies based on practical product
develop and supply chain scenarios are introduced as a means of going
into specifics about how VCOR can be used to define competitive drivers
within the value chain. We will present the value chain in question with
its enterprise entities, locations, roles and processes used within the
use case.
Methodology & Use Guidelines - This section presents a series
general principles and guidelines designed to assist in VCOR project
development and execution.
Modeling Extended Networks - We will define a baseline necessary
to do comparative scenario based analysis. Specific information
requirements will be sent prior to meeting.
Modeling Value Streams - How to use VCOR to examine specific
process threads such as: Prospect to Customer and Concept to Development
Instructors:
Gary Shell is Chief Technical Officer for Value Chain Associates. Gary joined the Value Chain Associates team as chief technical officer (CTO) in the spring of 2002. In this role, Mr. Shell oversees the company's strategic technological direction, technical staff, and product development. Mr. Shell brings over 30 years of systems design and development expertise to Value Chain Associates. An authority in data aggregation and distribution systems, Mr. Shell has also developed a keen understanding of business process modeling and analysis.
Vasco Drecun works with CPDA, a management advisory firm that
specializes in methodology for continuous improvement in product
development and supply chain collaboration. Mr. Drecun works with
leading manufacturing companies globally in benchmarking mainstream
practices, as well as in assessing the applicability of latest advances
in business process management: modeling, analysis, integration,
simulation and automation.
